Ben or two 5 lb bags of sugar??? If you guessed Ben, you are correct! We have FINALLY surpassed the 10 lb mark after 7 months of diligent tube feeding! We are thrilled about this since he stayed around 9 1/2 pounds for weeks after his surgery. Ben’s weight is unofficial – I actually weighed him fully clothed on the baby scale while taking Isaac to the pediatrician to follow up on his failed hearing screen. Ben’s tube-feed follow up visit isn’t until the 20th.
Isaac didn’t do very well with the audiometry at the pediatrician’s office either. He has some conductive hearing loss in the left ear because of a chronic serous otitis media (translation: he has fluid in his middle ear from allergies and previous ear infections). His pediatrician started him on a 14 day course of amoxicillin in the hopes of clearing up the fluid. He goes back in 4-5 weeks to recheck the ear and his hearing; if we are not having success he’ll need to see the ENT specialist. Isaac likes his medicine because he got chewable tablets instead of liquid. I think it makes him feel grown up.
Isaac was just starting a cold when he saw his doctor yesterday, but last night it blossomed into an asthma attack. He hasn’t had a flare of his asthma in over a year. This one isn’t too bad – we kept him home from school today and he’s only needed his inhaler occasionally. We have not needed to break out the nebulizer machine at all so far. He doesn’t look too sick in this picture – what do you think?
In other news, Mark has always been told that he looks like Steve from Blues Clues and he hates it. Today Jonny looked at him and told him, “Why are you wearing a Steve shirt?” I have to agree with Jonny. Mark says he doesn’t like the shirt as much anymore. 🙂
