Multicultural Dinner

 Aliyah

My sister Aliyah, who is 19 years old, is a sophomore at our local college.  She is also the president of the college’s International Club this year.  As I may have mentioned elsewhere, we grew up in beautiful Trinidad and Tobago.  In any case, once or twice a year the international club hosts a multicultural dinner (complete with entertainment by the international students) which is open to the community.  For a small rural Central Pennsyvania town, the dinner is surprisingly well-attended, and tonight was no exception.

International Dinner

We all went and had a lovely time!  The food was excellent and the entertainment was actually quite good.  Ben stayed awake the entire evening, just looking around, but toward the end he wanted someone (anyone!) to stand and/or walk around with him.  Jonny and Isaac behaved well for the most part.  While we were waiting for our food they sat and drew pictures and colored.  They both ate well and were quite willing to try some new dishes.  Jonny especially loved the curried chicken and the Korean potato cakes.  I think Isaac eventually gravitated to hot dogs. 🙂 All 3 boys were definitely exhausted by the end of the evening!  We had a relatively easy time getting them all to go to bed.  Maybe we should do this every night!

Wow, that sari looks terrific on Aliyah. I am happy you all were able to attend and lend some support to Aliyah and and the rest of the international students. Aliyah told me she was quite busy preparing aloo pies and kurma. I am sure her dishes were a hit as usual. I only wish I could have been there.

As it turns out, for the second year in a row, all Aliyah’s dishes were GONE by the time we actually made it to the buffet table. So much for being related to the president of the club!! I am still waiting to try aloo pies and kurma! – Karen.

LOL. Well, when I visit I will have to ensure that she makes US, her older siblings, our personal batch of aloo pies and such.

    Nice Sari A!

Dosen’t Issac look so cute when he sleeps!
